Our Partner Mark Grady has cycled the 100-mile RideLondon-Essex challenge over the bank holiday weekend in 5 hours 52 minutes raising over £500 for cancer and leukaemia charity The Chartwell Charities.

The gruelling cycle ride kickstarted McBrides’ partnership with The Chartwell Charities, its charity of the year.

The Chartwell Charities, which comprises The Chartwell Cancer Trust and The Chartwell Children’s Cancer Trust, helps make a positive impact on the lives of individuals and families affected by cancer.

Mark’s journey started in central London, went as far as Great Dunmow in Essex, and circled back to the finishing line at Tower Bridge. He commented: “It was a tough but fantastic experience to take on the RideLondon-Essex 100 cycle challenge and to be able to do it for such a deserving charity as Chartwell.  Riding for Chartwell provided that extra push to help me across the finish line.”

McBrides staff will compete in a range of activities focused on raising £5,000 for Chartwell over the next few months including a dragon boat race at Bewl Water in August.

Earlier this month, Joanne Bennett from Chartwell met the McBrides team. She said: “We’re over the moon that McBrides has chosen us as their charity partner of the year. We simply couldn’t deliver our mission and make the impact we do without the help of our amazing supporters and corporate partners.”

McBrides managing partner Tanya Hamilton said: “Well done to Mark for getting our fundraising off to an amazing start. Chartwell’s achievements since launching in 2003 are impressive and we’re looking forward to supporting them in the year ahead. They’re clearly making a tremendous difference to people living with cancer and leukaemia across South London and Kent.”
