We’re delighted to announce The Chartwell Charities as our charity of the year and are aiming to raise £5,000 for them over the coming months.

Comprising The Chartwell Cancer Trust and The Chartwell Childrens Cancer Trust, the group works directly with medical teams to make critical improvements to the treatment and care of adults and children living with cancer and leukaemia across south London, north Kent and east Surrey.

The charity surpassed all expectations when it raised £750,000 to fund a shortfall in cash needed to build the new paediatric oncology unit in Croydon NHS Trust, which opened in May 2022.

We were delighted to meet Joanne Bennett from Chartwell earlier this month and hear about the charity’s aims. She also introduced AV1, a robot designed to enable young patients receiving treatment to remotely participate in school and keep in touch with classmates.

Chartwell would like to buy 20 more to add to the 20 it already loans out to schools.

Joanne said: “We’re over the moon that McBrides has chosen us as their charity partner of the year. We simply couldn’t deliver our mission and make the impact we do without the help of our amazing supporters and corporate partners.”

Managing partner Tanya Hamilton said: “Chartwell’s achievements since launching in 2003 are really impressive and we’re looking forward to supporting them in the year ahead. They’re clearly making a tremendous difference to people living with cancer and leukaemia across South London and Kent.”

Kickstarting McBrides’ fundraising activities, McBrides partner Mark Grady will cycle the 100-mile RideLondon-Essex 2024 on Sunday 26th May in aid of The Chartwell Charities. You can sponsor Mark by clicking here.
